In short

This summary does not replace the full text. If the two differ, the full text applies.

A day of hellos, not an event

On November 21, you put on a ribbon and live a normal day. There’s no set time, no program and no organized gathering.

Ribbon = OK to say hello

Any color. It is not consent to flirting, touching, filming or continuing the conversation. Ribbon off = not now.

18+ for spots

Choosing a spot, leaving your email, suggesting a place and becoming a beacon (a WCD volunteer) are 18+. The test is open to any age.

Nobody screens participants

We don’t know who will come to a spot, and we aren’t responsible for other people’s behavior. A spot is a public place, not a guarded area.

A person checks places

Map-based rules check the suggestion; a moderator publishes or rejects it. Every rejection comes with a reason and an “Appeal the decision” button.

If something happens

Call 911, 112 or 999 first. Then use “Report a problem”: you can stay anonymous.

1About WCD and these Terms

1.1World Connection Day (WCD) is a day of hellos. On November 21, 2026, people around the world put on a ribbon in their color, live a normal day and say hello to others who are wearing one too. Any ribbon means one thing: “you can say hello to me”.

1.2The website worldconnectionday.com is the information platform of WCD: the test, the map of spots, “My WCD”, emails, suggesting places, the volunteer form and “Report a problem”. In these Terms, it’s called the “Site”.

1.3The Site is run by Fleamily Inc., a Delaware corporation (USA), registration number 10632227, 228 Park Ave S, PMB 85451, New York, NY 10003, United States. In these Terms, “we” means Fleamily Inc. Contact details are in section 16.

1.4These Terms are an agreement between you and us on the conditions for using the Site. By using the Site, you accept them; if they don’t suit you, don’t use the Site. How we handle data is described in the Privacy policy, which is part of these Terms.

1.5These Terms cover only the Site and WCD day. The Fledge app has its own terms. You can take part in WCD without the app and without an account.

2What WCD is and what it isn’t

Everything else depends on this, so here it is plainly:

  • WCD is not an event or a gathering. The day has no set time, program, stage, sound system, giveaways or contests. Everyone goes out wherever and whenever suits them, ideally during the day while it’s light.
  • A spot is a busy public place: a square, a park, a waterfront. We mark it on the map as a place where, on that day, there will most likely be more people with ribbons. We don’t rent, fence off or run anything there. We don’t promise how many people will come: there may be many, or there may be few.
  • “Picked by the organizers” means a place the WCD team marked on the map in advance. The label doesn’t mean we are holding an event there.
  • Beacons are volunteer participants who help people with ribbons find each other. Beacons don’t gather or lead anyone and aren’t responsible for order or anyone’s safety. They are not security staff and not our employees.
  • WCD is not a dating service. A ribbon does not mean looking for a partner or consent to flirting, touching, filming or continuing the conversation.
  • “Other events” take place on other days. Each one has its own organizer, named on its page, and its own terms for taking part.

3Taking part and age

3.1Taking part in WCD and using the Site are free and voluntary. The Site has no accounts: you get into “My WCD” through a link from an email.

3.2Choosing a spot, leaving your email, suggesting a place and filling in the volunteer form are only for people 18 and older; you confirm this with a separate checkbox. The test and the map are open to any age.

3.3If we learn that someone is under 18, we delete their sign-up and data.

3.4One person, one spot per WCD day. You can change your spot in “My WCD”.

3.5The test is a game about hello styles. It is not a psychological assessment or a personality evaluation, and its result is not meant for making important decisions.

4Hello rules

The full text is on the Hello rules page and is part of these Terms. The main points:

  • A ribbon means “OK to say hello”, and nothing more. Every color means the same thing. Ribbon off means not now.
  • “No, thanks” is a complete answer. Don’t push, and don’t follow.
  • Ask first, before you hug someone, take their photo, post it or ask for their contact. Wide shots of a crowd are fine; a close-up of a specific person only after they say “yes”.
  • Don’t set a time for people or call a crowd together. Don’t bring speakers, tables or tents, don’t tie ribbons to trees or poles, and don’t block the way.
  • Don’t use WCD for advertising, sales, collecting contacts, political campaigning or demonstrations.
  • Follow the rules of parks and squares, and do what police and staff ask. Asked to move on? We move on.
  • No drinking at spots: WCD is a sober day.

5What we do about violations

5.1If someone breaks these Terms or the Hello rules, we may hide or remove a spot or a suggested place, reject a suggestion, delete the participant’s sign-up and data, and block the person from the Site’s forms: choosing a spot, suggesting places and the volunteer form.

5.2Measures are proportionate to the violation. A person on the team makes the decision, and we explain the reason and how to challenge it to whoever it affects: sections 6.5 and 6.6.

5.3If someone often sends clearly unfounded complaints, we may stop reviewing them for a while, after warning that person.

5.4You can leave WCD at any time: “Delete my data” is in every email to participants and in “My WCD”, and we’ll delete any other data on request at legal@fledge.love.

6Suggested places and moderation

6.1You can suggest your own place through the map. Suitable: a square, a public garden, a park, a waterfront, a pedestrian street that is open and free to everyone, well lit and visible from the street, where people stroll anyway on a Saturday during the day. Not suitable: bars, clubs, cafés, stores and malls; private property without the owner’s written consent; places of worship, memorials, cemeteries and government buildings; schools, kindergartens, playgrounds and places next to them; residential courtyards and transit platforms; a place less than 300 m from another spot (in that case, we’ll suggest joining that spot).

6.2By submitting a place, you confirm that it exists and is open to everyone, and that its name and landmark contain no gathering time, program, advertising, contact details or people’s names.

6.3How we check:

  1. 1Map-based rulesThe browser, and then the server, check the place against OpenStreetMap: what the feature is, what’s within 150 m and whether there’s a spot closer than 300 m. This is an automated check.
  2. 2A person readsA moderator from the WCD team looks at the place on the map and reads your texts, checking for a set time to gather, ads, contact details and other people’s personal data.
  3. 3A person decidesOnly a moderator can publish, reject or pass a place to a senior moderator. The automatic check doesn’t publish or reject anything on its own.

While a place is under review, only you can see it.

6.4We usually reply within 48 hours, and from November 14 to 19, within 24 hours. Places suggested after 11:59 pm on November 19, local time at the place, won’t be published for November 21; we’ll consider them for February 13.

6.5If rejected. The reply always includes what we decided; the reason in plain words; whether automation was involved and who made the decision; which rule was applied; and how to challenge it. If we later hide or remove a published spot, we explain it the same way.

6.6Appeal. Tap “Appeal the decision” in the reply and write why you think the decision is wrong. A different moderator (not the one who rejected it) reviews it within 48 hours. EU residents also have other options: a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body (Art. 21 DSA) and the courts.

6.7Complaints about a spot. Every spot card, “My WCD” and the Hello rules page have a “Report a problem” button. You can use it to report an illegal or dangerous place as well as a person. A contact is optional; by default, the report is anonymous. A complaint doesn’t hide a spot automatically: a person decides whether to keep it, clarify the landmark, hide it or remove it. If you leave a contact, we’ll confirm receipt, tell you the decision, say whether automation was involved and explain how to challenge the decision. If we hide a spot that participants have chosen, they’ll get an email asking them to choose another one.

6.8By submitting a place, you give us free, worldwide permission to show its name and landmark on the map, in emails and in WCD materials, to shorten the name for cards, to correct obvious errors and to translate it. This permission is non-exclusive. We don’t show who suggested the place.

6.9A spot on the map doesn’t mean we have checked the place for safety, endorse its owner or are responsible for what happens there.

7Volunteers and beacons

7.1Spot beacons, WCD voices and City scouts are participants who chose to help of their own free will. There are no duties, shifts, schedules, reports or plans; you can change your mind at any time without explanation. More on the Volunteer page.

7.2Volunteers are not employees, contractors or representatives of Fleamily Inc.: they don’t speak on our behalf or sign contracts for us. If we sign a contract with any of the city coordinators, that contract will set out the terms.

7.3A beacon doesn’t gather or lead anyone, isn’t responsible for order and doesn’t replace emergency services. Beacons don’t collect participants’ contacts and don’t take close-up photos or videos of people without consent.

7.4If a WCD voice got something from us for free, such as ribbons, they mention this connection in their posts about WCD.

7.5In city chats, members may see each other’s phone numbers; see Privacy policy, section 3.4.

8No guarantees about other people

8.1We don’t verify the identity, age, intentions or background of participants and beacons. The 18+ checkbox is a person’s word, not an ID check.

8.2All encounters and conversations happen outside the Site, on your own initiative and at your own responsibility. We don’t control the behavior of participants, beacons or passersby and aren’t responsible for their actions.

8.3A spot is a public place, but not a promise of safety. We don’t promise that a certain number of people or a beacon will be there.

8.4Look after yourself: come during the day, tell someone close to you where you’re going, get there on your own, stay among people and don’t give near-strangers money, documents, card details or codes. Something feels off? Leave, no explanation needed.

9If something happens

If there’s a threat to life or health, call emergency services first.

Then write to us through “Report a problem”: on the spot card, in “My WCD” or on the Hello rules page. You can stay anonymous. On November 21, an on-duty team reads reports all day: we’ll look into it, remove the spot or the person breaking the rules, and reply if you leave a contact.

We are not an emergency service and can’t come to you.

Hello rules →

10Local laws

10.1Follow the laws of your country and the rules of places: parks, squares, waterfronts, public transit.

10.2Where the law or the local situation makes openness dangerous, we don’t create spots, or we show a local warning on the city card.

10.3If you suggest a place, don’t turn it into an event: in many cities, you need a permit to bring more than 20–30 people together in a park.

11Stories cards and invites

11.1Whether to share a card is up to you. The card may show your spot; you can hide it with the “Show my spot” toggle, and then only the city remains. A card never shows a time.

11.2Don’t post close-up photos or videos of other people without their consent.

11.3An invite link contains a code. It tells us that a person came through your invite; they don’t see your name.

12Intellectual property

12.1The name, design, illustrations, videos, texts, test mechanics and other Site materials belong to us or are used by us lawfully.

12.2You may freely use Site materials in personal, non-commercial posts about WCD (Stories, posts, articles, reports), with a mention of the project. You may not create the impression that the project sponsors, supports or endorses you or your brand.

12.3Commercial use of WCD materials and symbols, including making and selling ribbons under the project’s brand, is allowed only by agreement: legal@fledge.love or @valklimoff.

12.4If material on the Site infringes your rights, write to legal@fledge.love: what the material is, where it’s posted and what your rights are based on. We’ll review it and, if the infringement is confirmed, remove or change the material.

13Third-party services

The Site has links to Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, Telegram, map services and Google Calendar. We don’t control them: they have their own terms and policies, and we aren’t responsible for their content or how they work.

14The Site “as is”

14.1We don’t guarantee that the Site will work without interruption, that maps and information about places are accurate, the sunset time, or that a spot will be accessible on WCD day, for example because of repairs, a fair or the weather.

14.2We may change, hide and move spots, change the Site’s features or suspend the Site, including for technical, legal or organizational reasons. If your spot changes, we’ll email you.

15Liability, governing law and disputes

15.1To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses, lost profits or non-pecuniary damage, or for harm caused by the actions of participants, beacons and other people, by third-party services, by Site failures or by loss of data in browser storage.

15.2If we are nevertheless found liable, our total liability is limited to US$100: the Site is free.

15.3Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for intent, gross negligence and harm to life and health, or takes away your consumer rights under the law of your country.

15.4These Terms are governed by the law of the State of New York (USA), without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. This does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of the country where you live.

15.5We’ll first try to settle any dispute by correspondence: write to legal@fledge.love, and we’ll reply within 30 days. If that doesn’t work, the dispute will be decided by the courts where Fleamily Inc. is located, unless the law of your country gives consumers a different jurisdiction.

16Changes and contact

16.1A new version of these Terms is published on this page with a number and date. We’ll email people who get WCD emails about material changes.

16.2If any provision of these Terms turns out to be invalid, the rest remain in effect.

16.3If language versions differ, the English version prevails, unless the law of the user’s country requires otherwise.
